Today the County Team should have been at Dudsbury GC in Dorset for the beginning of the South West Inter-Counties Matches.
This year was to have been a new shortened format with the matches condensed into 2 1/2 days rather than 5. We would have been aiming to build on last year’s third place finish. However, as this event has been cancelled, along with match weeks in all the other regions, England Golf decided to open National Finals to any county which wished to send a team to a 5 day event in Lincolnshire in September.
After consultation with the squad, Cornwall decided not to participate in this event. Instead we will look forward to next year’s SW Inter- Counties at Bristol and Clifton GC.
In the meantime I know some clubs are starting to play competitions again, others maybe not yet, but I hope most of you are managing to get back out on the course.
The committee will discuss the plans for our remaining County competitions in the next week or so and we will let you know the plan.
