Message from Di Hillage CLCGA handicap advisor

Message from Di Hillage CLCGA handicap advisor

As the introduction of the WHS approaches players should soon be able to see the PROVISIONAL values of their new Handicap Indices, which England golf are distributing via their club platform. Your new handicap index is likely to be different from your current Handicap and inmost cases a few strokes higher. However as the WHS involves a totally different calculations you should not be unduly concerned. The final Handicap indices will be released just before 2nd November and will take into account any results submitted between now and then. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email at dhillage@btinternet.com and I will do my best to help. Di Hillage CLCGA Handicap advisor

A.G.M. 2020 Update

A.G.M. 2020 Update

Following a committee meeting on Monday we are pleased to announce the arrangements for our forthcoming AGM. It was decided that the most inclusive way of conducting the meeting would be by email.  During the week starting 9th November, CLCGA Secretary Jenny Potter will email the meeting agenda and details of how to vote, to all delegates. Delegates will then be asked to forward this information to all the lady members of their club. All the officers’ reports and any other information will be emailed out subsequently. All paperwork will also be posted on the CLCGA website. We realise that this is not a perfect solution but felt that it was the best option available to us at this difficult time. We hope it will enable as many of our members as possible to participate. Any items to be included on the agenda should be sent to Jenny Potter by

CVLCGA – cancellations

CVLCGA – cancellations

We are sorry to inform our members that like the CLCGA our Committee has decided to cancel all remaining events this year.  Our reasons are similar to those which had to be taken into account by the CLCGA – the reduced capacity of clubhouses so that meals and presentations would not be feasible; changing room facilities would be difficult to manage; there are no toilets open on Trevose golf course; restrictions on sharing cars means travelling together would not be allowed so car parks would be unable to cope with increased vehicle numbers; and, not least, the safety of the members, many of whom are considered vulnerable merely because of their age; and of the Committee who would be meeting and greeting players and processing cards. In addition to cancelling the Autumn Meeting and the match against the Captains’ Society, the Committee has also decided to abandon this year’s Championship play

CLCGA Competitions 2020

CLCGA Competitions 2020

It is with heavy hearts that your committee have decided to cancel all remaining CLCGA events this year. This includes The Gammon Trophy, all League Matches, Vice Presidents Cup, Flag Day, the Bronze and Silver Autumn Meetings, the Jubilee and the League Finals. There are so many factors to take into account in making this decision. Clubhouses are reopening but have significantly reduced capacity, so meals and presentations are not feasible for the time being. Changing room and toilet facilities would be difficult to manage for potentially large numbers of visiting players. Restrictions on sharing cars means travelling to events together would not be allowed. From the point of view of the Golf Clubs who have had such a difficult time, we feel it would be unfair to ask for course time when we would not be using the clubhouse. We also have to consider the safety of the members of the committee who would be meeting and greeting players and processing cards. This is not the
