Vice Presidents Cup final

The final of the Vice Presidents Cup was played at Perranporth Golf Club on Wednesday 13th November. Due to the weather conditions the venue had to be changed at short notice, so thanks to Perranporth for allowing us the tee time. The final was between Cara Rowe from Killiow and Kath Biddle from St Enodoc. The was only one shot difference in the handicaps and the match was just as close. There was never more than one hole in it until Cara won the 16th to go 2up. A half on 17 gave Cara the match 2&1. The Trophy was presented by County Vice President Jill Simmons.

League play off Trophy 13th October 2019

The winners of the four league divisions played in the League Play Off Trophy at Merlin in surprisingly good weather. The Clubs were Carlyon Bay, Looe, Newquay and Perranporth. The format was Aggregate Stableford with all scores counting. One player from each team in a group. The Winners of the Trophy were Newquay with 198 points, 2nd place Carlyon Bay 193points, 3rd place Perranporth 192 points and 4th place Looe 160 points. The team’s all enjoyed a meal afterwards. CLCGA Jubilee at Perranporth 2nd October 2019

The CLCGA Jubilee competition was held at Perranporth in fantastic weather. There was no wind which is a rarity at Perranporth. The Captain’s Charity Jubilee was held to raise money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance which is the County Captain’s Charity. On the day £534.25 was raised for the Charity. There were 69 players from 12 Clubs. In 1st place winning the Jubilee Jug was Sue Roworth, Bev Vann and Jo Body from St Enodoc and West Cornwall. They scored a net 66. 6. In 2nd place was Jan Sargeant, Nikki Hodge and Jenny Potter from Perranporth with a net 68.1 In 3rd place was Jane Barrington, Lynne Dickinson and Carmel Connors from Perranporth and Falmouth with a net 70.9. There were 12 two’s each receiving 5 balls.

CLCGA BRONZE AUTUMN MEETING at MULLION

32 Ladies from 8 Clubs played in the Bronze Autumn meeting at Mullion in fine weather. The CSS was 75. There were no gross 2’s and cards were drawn out, each receiving 6 balls. In 1st place and winning the Autumn Handicap Cup was Hope O’Neill from Mullion with 38 points. In 2nd place was Helen Thompson from Mullion with 34 points. In 3rd place was Nicola Oddy from Perranporth with 32 points. In 4th place was Carol Peck from Tehidy with 31 points. In 5th place was Rosie Broger Bareham from Perranporth with 30 points on countback The Aggregate Cup for the combined Spring and Autumn meetings was won by Nicola Oddy with 38 & 32 points total 70 points

GAMMON FINAL 8th September 2019

The final of the Gammon was played at Trevose in sunshine and with only a slight breeze. The finalist were Perranporth and West Cornwall. There were plenty of spectators from numerous Cornish Clubs out enjoying the good golf. All the matches were played in good spirit. The first match was between Danielle Price and Judy Ryder. Judy took an early lead but Danielle came back and finally won on the 18th. Olivia Trewhela played Jo Body and won 5&4. Nikki Hodge played Gloria Sandow and won 5&4. Jan Sargeant played Hilary Wood and won 4&3. Jo Rysdale halved with Rachel Perkin. Angie Chapman played Hannah Body and won 5&4. Vicky Lee Comyn halved with Gill Cattran. Overall Perranporth won 6-1 and won the Gammon Trophy for the 4th year running. The team’s enjoyed a meal afterwards and thanks go to Trevose for hosting the Final.

CLCGA SILVER AUTUMN MEETING AT TRETHORNE

44 Ladies played in the CLCGA Silver Autumn meeting at Trethorne. The weather was good and the CSS was 73. The Aggregate Cup winner for the best nett scores from Spring and Autumn meetings was Sarah Ockwell of Launceston with a total of 150. (74 & 76) In 1st place net and winning the Autumn Handicap Cup with a nett 71 was Sarah Shobrook from Perranporth. In 2nd place with a nett 73 was Mandy Dennison from West Cornwall. In 3rd place with a nett 74 on countback was Jill Jones from Carlyon Bay. In 4th place also with a nett 74 was Vera Eade from Perranporth. In 1st place Scratch with a gross 80 was Caroline Hume Kendall from St Enodoc. In 2nd place Scratch with across 83 was Collette Burgess from Bude and North Cornwall In 3rd place Scratch with a gross 84 on countback was Vicky Lee

Gammon Semi Finals 11th August 2019

The two Semi Finals were played on Sunday at Falmouth and Tehidy Golf Clubs. West Cornwall played Carlyon Bay at Falmouth. Emily Toy, back from helping the England Ladies team win the The Home Internationals in Scotland last week played and won 2up for Carlyon Bay. The match was very close with Hilary Wood winning on the 19th for West Cornwall and Jean Hayward win on the 20th for Carlyon Bay. Two other matches were decided on the 17th and the final match was won by Debbie Sedgeman 1up for West Cornwall to decide the match with a 4-3 win for West Cornwall. In the other Semi Final between Launceston and Perranporth played at Tehidy Park the match was also a very close affair. 47pairs played in the annual Flag Day Salvers at St Austell on Monday. There was the odd shower but everyone enjoyed the course and a very good meal afterwards. Thanks to St Austell for hosting the event. In 1st place with 44 points was Mo Hammond and Donna Craig from Falmouth In 2nd place with 42 points was Wendy Collins and Linda Mullins from Launceston. In 3rd place with 41 points on countback was Mandy Wright and Jane Rowse from Perranporth & Tehidy. In 4th place also with 41 points was Nicky Shore and Kim Barratt from Carlyon Bay. INTER COUNTY MATCH WEEK at Woodbury Park 5th July2019

It was the final day of the Inter County Match week at Woodbury Park Golf Club. Cornwall played old rivals Devon to decide 3rd and 4th place. Cornwall were 2-1 up after the foursomes with Danielle and Megan winning 5&4, Wendy and Kira won 3&2 and Jan and Cath lost 6&4. The afternoon singles saw Megan lose 1 Down, Danielle win 4&2, Olivia win 3&1, Annie halved, Kira lost 5&4 and Laura halved. Overall the match was a win for Cornwall 5-4 and this secured 3rd place over the week. In other matches Wiltshire 6.5-Dorset 2.5 Gloucestershire and Somerset halved their match so the winner of Match Week was decided on games won and Gloucestershire having won 31.5 to Somerset 27, Gloucestershire go forward to the England Golf Finals at Delamere Forest Golf Club in September. Well played all the Cornwall players and thanks to the caddies and supporters.

Cornwall played Somerset on the 4th day. The foursomes were very close with all three matches going down the 18th unfortunately Somerset took all the matches. Danielle and Megan lost 1down, Wendy & Olivia and Jan & Cath all losing 2 down. In the afternoon singles Megan won 4&3, Danielle lost 3&2, Olivia lost 3&2, Kira won 1up, Caroline lost 4&2 and Laura won 2&1. Overall it was a win for Somerset 6 Cornwall 3. In other matches Gloucestershire 7.5 Dorset 1.5 Devon 5 Wiltshire 4 On Friday Gloucestershire and Somerset will play each other to determine which County will go forward to the National Final
