CLCGA Competitions cancelled up to 21st June 2021

The CLCGA Committee have decided that all competitions up the 21st June will be cancelled for 2021. This will include the Silver and Bronze Spring meetings, the Baron Bowl and the Inter Club Handicap Shield. The decision was made because of government restrictions in force until at least the 21st June 2021. We hope to play the Gammon Trophy this year but with the restriction of no caddies, food or speeches. This will enable keeping to below the maximum of 30 outside as outlined in the Play safe timeline. At present our first competition is set to be Flag Day at St Austell on Monday 2nd August so get your entries in. Obviously if circumstances change ( and we really hope they don’t) we will have to review the decision.

League 2021 cancelled

League 2021 cancelled

The CLCGA Committee have made a decision to cancel the League competition for the 2021 season. I’ m sure you are all experiencing a sense of deja vu with this. The reasons behind this decision being made were, with the Covid 19 pandemic and lockdown the chances of fitting all the matches in would be adversely affected. Most of the clubs start playing matches in March and April and we all know rearranging a match cancelled for bad weather is always a tricky but this year will be doubly so. In the 2019 season we had a number of matches not being played as they ran out of time. The golf clubs have all taken a hit in green fees and us cancelling early allows them the chance of taking bookings. We all need our Clubs to survive this difficult time financially. Catering is also problematic with some clubs having

CLCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLED

CLCGA CHAMPIONSHIPS CANCELLED

With regret the CLCGA Committee have taken the decision to cancel this year’s County Championship which was due to take place at Newquay GC on 15th – 18th April 2021. Once again the decision has not been taken lightly but in view of the current crisis over Coronavirus facing us all, and the government advice on social distancing and unnecessary travelling we felt that cancellation was our only course of action. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause. Refunds will be processed as soon as possible. A decision regarding the viability of running the League this year will be made as soon as possible.

A.G.M. 2020 Update

A.G.M. 2020 Update

Following a committee meeting on Monday we are pleased to announce the arrangements for our forthcoming AGM. It was decided that the most inclusive way of conducting the meeting would be by email.  During the week starting 9th November, CLCGA Secretary Jenny Potter will email the meeting agenda and details of how to vote, to all delegates. Delegates will then be asked to forward this information to all the lady members of their club. All the officers’ reports and any other information will be emailed out subsequently. All paperwork will also be posted on the CLCGA website. We realise that this is not a perfect solution but felt that it was the best option available to us at this difficult time. We hope it will enable as many of our members as possible to participate. Any items to be included on the agenda should be sent to Jenny Potter by

CLCGA Competitions 2020

CLCGA Competitions 2020

It is with heavy hearts that your committee have decided to cancel all remaining CLCGA events this year. This includes The Gammon Trophy, all League Matches, Vice Presidents Cup, Flag Day, the Bronze and Silver Autumn Meetings, the Jubilee and the League Finals. There are so many factors to take into account in making this decision. Clubhouses are reopening but have significantly reduced capacity, so meals and presentations are not feasible for the time being. Changing room and toilet facilities would be difficult to manage for potentially large numbers of visiting players. Restrictions on sharing cars means travelling to events together would not be allowed. From the point of view of the Golf Clubs who have had such a difficult time, we feel it would be unfair to ask for course time when we would not be using the clubhouse. We also have to consider the safety of the members of the committee who would be meeting and greeting players and processing cards. This is not the
