SW REGIONAL FINALS ENGLAND GOLF MEDALS

In the South West regional final of the England Golf Medals played at Lyme Regis on the 12th June, Perranporth’s Lauren Hulston was the Regional winner scoring 37 points, two points clear of Burnham and Berrow player Tracey Blood on 35 points and 3 points clear of local player Gilly Madill. Lauren now goes forward to play in the National finals at Woodhall Spa. She will play an 18 hole Stableford on the Bracken Course, practice round, enjoy a night’s accommodation with B&B, Competitors evening dinner and lunch on final day. 8 Cornish Club’s entered out of the 53 Club’s represented. The 2021 Marie Curie Re Open Championship

The 2021 Marie Curie Re Open Championship

The charity Marie Curie are running a fund raising event to celebrate the re-opening of golf after lockdown. It is £3 each to enter and then £1 for each stroke over your handicap. There is a prize for which ever is the biggest contributing club. ie. the club that’s members played the worst. It’s not often you win by scoring highest. Notes for CLCGA AGM 2020.                               7th December 2020 Due to Covid 19 restrictions an actual AGM it was not possible to hold an actual AGM, so all the reports and accounts were circulated via email to the Club delegates for them to forward to their members.  I have been notified that the following members have died in the last year. Very sad news

Very sad news

Very sorry to let everyone know that Pat Crowson passed away at St Julia Hospice on Friday night. Pat was CLCGA Secretary for many years. She had great knowledge and offered great advice. She went on to England Golf as a board member after finishing her time as our Secretary. Condolences to John and family.

Gammon Semi Finals 11th August 2019

The two Semi Finals were played on Sunday at Falmouth and Tehidy Golf Clubs. West Cornwall played Carlyon Bay at Falmouth. Emily Toy, back from helping the England Ladies team win the The Home Internationals in Scotland last week played and won 2up for Carlyon Bay. The match was very close with Hilary Wood winning on the 19th for West Cornwall and Jean Hayward win on the 20th for Carlyon Bay. Two other matches were decided on the 17th and the final match was won by Debbie Sedgeman 1up for West Cornwall to decide the match with a 4-3 win for West Cornwall. In the other Semi Final between Launceston and Perranporth played at Tehidy Park the match was also a very close affair. INTER-CLUB HANDICAP SHIELD at St Austell 20th June 2019

21 Clubs entered teams of four players in the Inter Club Handicap Shield. The format is 18 holes medal, 3 scores to count and any ties decided on the 4th players card. The Andrews Bowl is awarded for the best gross score of the day. The weather was fine and the CSS was 74. The Shield was won by St Austell Golf Club team of Marion Sutton, Mandi Jago, Caryl Gould and Gill Dinnis with an aggregate score of 229. In 2nd place was West Cornwall with 240. In 3rd place was Newquay with 242. Emily Toy plays in winning England team

Emily Toy plays in winning England team

Emily Toy was part of the winning England Team that won the Seve Ballesteros Trophy at Formby Golf Club. The match against Spain was cut back with only Foursomes matches on Saturday due to Storm Hana with England 3-2 up. Sunday was better weather and the Foursomes went to England 4-1. The singles saw a 6-4 win for England team. Carlyon Bay player Emily Toy won both her Foursomes matches with partner Isobel Wardle and lost her singles match against Spain’s Marta Garcia 2&1. Overall the team retained the Seve Ballesteros Trophy 13-7. Congratulations and well played Emily. For full results check out the England Golf website
