Emily Toy has been selected to take part in the biennial match against Spain at Formby Golf Club on the weekend of April the 27th and 28th. The players who won the European Nations Cup last weekend are all in England’s mixed team for next week’s international against Spain at Formby Golf Club, Lancashire. Champions Ben Jones, Tom Plumb, Tom Sloman and Bailey Gill will be joined by the women’s European Nations Cup bronze medallists, Georgina Blackman, Emily Toy and Bel Wardle. The 10-strong team will be completed by Jake Burnage, Ben Hutchinson and Lily May Humphreys. The players will follow in the steps of golfing giants as they take part in this biennial match, on the weekend of April 27-28. Read more →The three finals started off with weather that was not ideal with cold rain and strong winds. This didn’t stop the golf from being of a good standard. In the Advanced Plate Victoria Pawley played against Louisa McCartney and there was never more than 2holes in the match. Louisa eventually winning on the 17th with a score of 2/1. In the Plate competition Maisie Drewett played against Dawn Emmerson. Maisie got off to a fast start and was soon up. Dawn battled on but ultimately lost 6/5. In the Championship match the game was close in the first 18 holes with Megan taking a 2 hole lead into the second 18 holes. Danielle fought back winning the 2nd and 4th to level the match and went 1up on the 5th. Megan came back and levelled the match on the 6th. Danielle then won the 7th and Megan won the 8th
Read more →To say the conditions were testing would be an understatement. The wind from the East had strengthened enough to make play very difficult. However the girls still produced some amazing golf with plenty of pars, some birdies and Danielle even had an Eagle on the 14th which was playing straight into the wind. Most matches were closely fought and in the Championship Danielle won against Laura on the17th, Megan and Olivia going right down to the last putt on the 18 th to decide their match when Megan came out on top. Victoria beat Jan on the 16th and Nikki and Louisa going to the 20th before Louisa won in the Advanced Plate. Maisie won against Angie and Dawn won against Cath in the Plate. Read more →53 Ladies competed the CLCGA Championships at Perranporth. The conditions were fine with a cool easterly wind for the 36 hole qualifying. The scoring was mixed and the CSS as 75 ” reductions only” for the around and 75 for the pm round. The top qualifier was Danielle Price with rounds of 78 & 75 gross total of 153, hotly followed by last year’s CLCGA Champion Megan Giles with rounds of 78 & 76 gross total of 154. Olivia Trewhela and Laura Andrew competed the top four qualifiers with rounds of 78 & 79 and 77 & 80 respectively for a gross totals of 157. The Western Morning News Cup for an aggregate of the four best gross 36 holes score for a club was won by Perranporth Golf Club with a total of 642. Second place was taken by St Mellion. Read more →The annual CLCGA Mixed Greensome was played on Sunday 7th April 2019. 54 Pairs played the mixed in dry, overcast conditions. The strong breeze made things a bit tricky for quite a number of pairs but some local knowledge and good golf produced a great winning score of 40 points for Trevose pair Caroline Salmon and Carl Burley. Closely followed in 2nd place was Perranporth pair Angie Chapman and Ian Kenyon with 38 points. In 3rd place was Trevose pair Margaret Oliver and Ross Oliver with 36 points on countback. Read more →On a very cold, wet and windy day, the SWVLGA held their Spring Field Day at Yeovil on Thursday 4th April 2019. There were some 120 players, less one or two who pulled out at the last minute due to the weather conditions, which were pretty horrendous! Cornwall fielded only six players, but four of them won prizes which was most commendable. Bronze Div. II saw Jean Murray of Killiow come in 3rd with 26 points; in Bronze Div. I Pat Crowson, Killiow, was 4th with 28 points; in the Silver division Jean-Anne Evers, St. Austell was 2nd with 31 points, and Jill Simmons, Mullion, won the VV Cup (over 70’s) also with 31 points. Read more →On Sunday 24th March 2019 a combined team of First Team, Second Team and Junior Girls took on the CGU Under 18 Boys Team at West Cornwall. We played 5 foursomes matches in bright but windy conditions. All the matches were played in good spirits and enjoyed by all but unfortunately the boys had the upper hand in all the matches and the final score was 5 – 0.Our team was Victoria Pawley and Laura Andrew, Wendy Briggs and Jan Harrison, Kira Barnes and Lauren Hulston, Cath Hopkins and Caroline Hume-Kendall, Maddie Watson and Lizzie Nile. Read more →Good luck to Perranporth ladies who take on Torquay in the Tamar Trophy match this Sunday at Perranporth. This is a rematch of last year’s final which was played at Torquay. Perranporth won the Tamar Trophy with a score of 6-1. The Tamar Trophy is played between the winners of the CLCGA Gammon Trophy and the winners of the Still Cup which is the Devon equivalent scratch team event. The first tee time is at 12 pm.Good luck once again Perranporth. A win will make 3 in a row.
